What is the history behind the Tuxedo / Dinner Suit? and what is the reason for the name behind Tuxedo?

In the summer of 1886, Mr James Brown Potter (American financier) vacationed in England with his wife Mrs Cora Potter, at the time they were introduced to the Prince of Wales (who later became King Edward VII) at a court ball in London. And the Prince of Wales invited them to Sandringham for the weekend. Mr Potter asked the Prince of Wales for advice on formal attire. The Prince of Wales sent Mr Pottter to his own Saville Row tailor, Henry Poole & Co. Mr Potter fitted with a short black jacket and black tie that was unlike the formal tails with a white tie that was worn in the United States for formal occasions. The new tailless formal attire was said to have been designed by the Prince of Wales. The Prince of Wales and his tailor drew Inspiration from the British military uniforms of the time, which used short jackets with black ties.

When Mr Potter returned to the United States in his home town Tuxedo Park, Just outside of New York City, At a formal ball, held at the Tuxedo Club in October 1886, the members of the club were not only impressed by Mr.potters to visit Sandringham but also inspired the appropriate dinner suit which is Mr Potter brought back from England.

Tuxedo in the context of menswear originated in the United States around 1888. It was named after Tuxedo Park, a Hudson Valley enclave for New York's social elite where it was often seen in its early years.
